During a Thanksgiving dinner, Debra remembers a conversation she had with Christine Hill and realizes Hill has knowledge of the shooting that no one outside the police department should possess.

Travis tells Dexter that he posted on his blog telling him to meet, where an angry Gellar tells Travis to repent, before knocking him unconscious. As Dexter searches the church for clues, he discovers an opening that leads to a basement. In that basement, Dexter is shocked upon seeing Gellar’s dead body in a freezer, concluding that Travis was acting alone the entire time. In reality, Travis was the one who stole the sword three years prior to the doomsday killings, incriminated Gellar and came up with the gruesome idea to act out the End of Days.

He became known as the “Dating Game Killer” because he had been a contestant on “The Dating Game” in 1978, although none of his victims had any connection to the game show. In 2012, Alcala was indicted in New York for the 1971 killing of Cornelia Crilley and the 1977 killing of Ellen Jane Hover. After he was extradited, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced in 2013 to 25 years to life. He was sentenced to death again in 1986 after a second trial, but that sentence was overturned by a federal appeals court in 2003 and a third trial was granted. In 2010, the Huntington Beach Police Department released the photos taken by Alcala confiscated decades earlier to determine whether they may have been victimized by him. Prior to his death, he had not disclosed whether there were other victims.
During his interviews with the police, Mr. Alcala would pretend to be asleep and trace his index finger along photographs of the victims, trying to irritate investigators, Mr. Sheaman recalled. Mr. Alcala, who appeared in a 1978 episode of “The Dating Game,” was convicted in seven murders. A longhaired photographer who lured women by offering to take their picture, Mr. Alcala, 77, had been convicted of five murders in Orange County, Calif., and two in New York, all in the 1970s. It’s frustrating but realistic how hard it was to prove crimes he was suspected of and the unreliability of witnesses. Carrie Preston of the Good Wife is effective in her few scenes as mother of one of the victims. Carol Stills (portrayed by Nancy Carell, Steve Carell’s wife) is Michael’s real estate agent.
